22nd November

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar All-Weather Lifeboat 16-17) was launched at the request of UK Coastguard at 10.36am this morning to assist CV6 (a 70 foot Clipper Venture yacht) with 11 crew onboard that had run aground near the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour after her engine had failed and she had been blown onto the lee shore by the SW'erly F7 winds.

By the time the Alfred Albert Williams arrived on scene at 10.49am, CV6 had been refloated by MV Sure Pilgrim and the tug Guardsman, however having discussed options she established an alongside tow and took CV6 to Gosport Marina.   Once safely alongside (c11.10am), the Alfred Albert Williams returned to Bembridge and was re-housed by 11.45am.   Portsmouth RNLI's Atlantic 85 was also tasked and helped coordinate the rescue.

On scene photo's by new crew member Fiona who was on her first "live" shout.
