RNLB Norman Harvey (D-778) was launched at just before 14:00 at the request of UK Coastguard to assist a 7m angling boat (Oliver) with one person onboard that had broken down about a mile and a half to the South East of the Offshore boathouse. At this stage it was not known what the vessels home port was.
The Norman Harvey, with the Station mechanic onboard, quickly located the angling boat however before the mechanic was able to transfer to the vessel, the owner tried to start the engine again one last time, which much to his surprise promptly burst into life! After a quick check and with everyone happy that Oliver would make it safely back to Southsea Marina without further assistance, the Norman Harvey returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 14:40.
RNLB Alfred Albert Williams (Tamar 16-17) was launched at around 11:30 this morning at the request of UK Coastguard to assist in a search following the overnight discovery of some miscellaneous items of clothing and equipment on the beach near Gilkicker Point. After a two and a half hour search that found nothing of significance the Alfred Albert Williams was stood down and having returned to Bembridge was rehoused by 14:30.
