We launched at 18:28 at the request of Solent MRCC after the spoken words Mayday were received stating that a 20ft speedboat had hit an submerged object to the east of St Catherine’s point.
On route Solent gave us a Datum point to start an expanding square search, with the first heading of 270°, and a track spacing of ½ mile, the visibility was down to around ½ a mile sometimes less with a moderate sea.
