May 2013

16th
The ALB was launched at 17:05 to assist an angling vessel with machinery failure 2 miles south of St Catherine's point.The vessel was towed back into Bembridge and berthed at Fishermans pontoon.
On completion the lifeboat returnrd to station at 19:00
8th
The ALB was launched at 23:51 to assist an 8 metre vessel with a fouled propellor which hindered the rudder close to the Bembridge Ledge.

April 2013

27th

The ALB was requested to launch at 15:20 by Solent CG after recieving reports of a dismasted catamaran in the vicinity of Noman's Land Fort.
On launching the lifeboat made best speed and were re-tasked to another dismasted catamaran on route whilst Gosport Lifeboat attended the first one.
We sorted the catamaran out and towed it a short distance to Gosport Lifeboat who took over the tow into Stokes bay. We took over the tow of Gosports catamaran and towed that into Portsmouth Harbour and berthed it in Haslar marina.

February 2013

19th
The ALB launched at 01:02 to assist in the medical evacuation of a person from the "No Mans Land fort" in the Solent.
Arriving on-scene 10 minutes after launching, the person was brought ashore by stretcher and handed to the ambulence crew in Camber docks.
On completion the lifeboat returned to station at 02:43

December 2012

1st
We were requested to launch the ALB by Solent coastguard to assist an 18’ angling vessel that had machinery failure approximately a mile SE of the Nab tower.
The casualty was taken undertow just as another angling vessel reported having a similar problem half a mile south of our position.

November 2012

1st

The ALB was launched at 12:58 to recover a casualty seen floating 5 miles south of the station.
The casualty was recovered and taken into Portsmouth harbour.
On returning to Bembridge we assisted a yacht entering Portsmouth harbour with an injured crewman aboard. The vessel was escorted into Gunwharf quays and first aid administered whist we awaited the arrival of the ambulance crew.
On completion we returned to station at 16:30

October 2012

11th
Both boats launched at 03:20 to assist other rescue services after a vehicle went over the cliff at Culver.
8th
The ALB was launched at 06:50 to assist a 38' sailing yacht with one crew member suffering from seasickness south of the nab tower.
The casualty was towed into portsmoth harbour and berthed in hazlar Marina

23rd
The ALB Launched at 15:30 to assist a 14metre catamaran aground on the St Helens side of the entrance to Bembridge Harbour.
Arriving on scene, due to the lack of water and the near gale force easterly winds the towline was rigged and a rocket line was fired to the casualty.
Once the line was ashore it was secured and the vessel was towed free and into Bembridge Harbour and berthed at the duver pontoon.

The ILB was launched to assist in the evacuation of an injured crewman off a ketch anchored in Seagrove bay.
The person had injured his fingers and was taken back to Bembridge and handed over the ambulance crew.

July Services 2012

1st
A 23' yacht run aground at around 12:30 on Bembridge Ledge (by the entrance to the run) and were attended by Sandown Inshore rescue.
Shortly after the vessel was well and truly aground and had no option but to sit and wait the six and a half hours before it would refloat again.
Both ALB and ILB launched at 18:20 to assist the refloat, the ILB recovered the vessels anchor and rigged a towline just prior to the vessel floating.

June Services 2012

30th

We attended two service during the Round the Island Race.
The first was to a dismasted yacht south of ventnor, arriving  on-scene we found the crew were busy trying to retrieve the mast and rigging from over the side.
No sooner had we arrived we were diverted to assist a crewman with a suspected broken leg onboard a 45' yacht south of Dunnose.
Arriving on scene the helicopter winchman was lowered onto our deck and we then transferred him to the yacht with  one of our crewman&nbs
